University of Hawai‘i Saxophone Choir

About the program

The University of Hawai‘i Saxophone Choir (UHSC) serves as both a performing ensemble and a masterclass at the Mānoa Campus. It is open to saxophonists of all levels, including students, professionals, and community members.

Students have the opportunity to apply these techniques in small and large chamber groups, which performs every semester. The ensemble covers a wide repertoire from medieval, classical to atonal and jazz music. Interested participants may also receive a MUS 410F credit (Chamber Music).

Master classes have given students the opportunity to work and learn with guest artists from around the country including Harvey Pittel, Todd Oxford, and Gabe Baltazar. The ensemble has performed with many guest artists including saxophonists Gabe Baltazar, percussionist Noel Okimoto, and saxophonists David Choy and Tim Tsukiyama.
